Viña Encina Tinto is a young Kosher Tempranillo from D.O. La Mancha, made by Elvi Wines. Cold maceration before fermentation lifts the colour and fruit, giving a fresh, unoaked red of bright red berries and cherry for easy everyday drinking.
Description
Viña Encina Tinto is a young Kosher red from D.O. La Mancha made by Elvi Wines, a single varietal Tempranillo, the most widely planted grape in Spain. As a Kosher wine the cellar work is carried out under the required supervision, but the style stays simple and fruit-led. La Mancha is a high, dry plateau in central Spain with a continental climate, where hot days and cold nights give a wide diurnal range that lets Tempranillo ripen while keeping its acidity and fresh aromatics. After harvest the grapes undergo a cold pre-fermentation maceration to draw out colour and flavour, then ferment for ten days at a controlled 19 degrees, followed by a further eight days of skin contact. The wine sees no oak, so the focus stays on clean primary fruit. The colour is bright cherry red. The nose shows fresh red berries, cherry and plum with redcurrant and a light floral, herbal edge. The palate is light to medium bodied with soft tannin and lively acidity, the finish clean and juicy. At 13 percent it is an easy, approachable everyday red. Serve at 14 to 16 degrees, lightly chilled if you like. Good with simple, casual meals.
