Description
Villa Matilde Greco di Tufo is a single variety white from DOC Greco di Tufo in Campania, made by Villa Matilde from the Greco grape. The estate has long worked to revive the ancient varieties of the region, farming old vines in the volcanic country at the foot of the Roccamonfina volcano. Greco di Tufo takes its name from the tuff, a soft volcanic rock rich in sulphur and minerals, which gives the wine its firm structure and smoky, flinty character. Warm days and cool nights in these hills keep the ripe fruit fresh and lifted. After pressing, the wine is aged on its fine lees, a stage that builds body, a creamy weight and a savoury, nutty depth in keeping with the grape. This is a full and powerful white, with the higher alcohol reflecting the ripeness of the fruit. Expect a bright straw colour and a nose of white peach, apricot and almond with a smoky mineral edge. The palate is dry and full bodied, with stone fruit, a nutty note and a long, flinty finish. Serve at 10 to 12 degrees.

Additional information
Its body and structure suit oily and meaty fish such as grilled tuna and swordfish. The nutty, smoky depth also pairs with roast chicken and hard, nutty cheese, and it holds up to lightly spiced dishes.
