Petroni Blanco is a white vermouth from Vermutería de Galicia, built on the region’s Albariño. The salt-edged, citrus-driven grape gives a fresh, aromatic base for the botanical infusion, making a pale Galician vermut suited to the aperitif hour and seafood.
Description
Petroni Blanco is a white vermouth made by Vermutería de Galicia in Spain's Atlantic northwest, set apart by an Albariño base. Albariño is the signature white grape of Galicia, grown on granite-influenced coastal soils where Atlantic humidity and sea breezes give wines high acidity, stone fruit and a saline edge. That bright, mineral character makes a fresher and more aromatic foundation than the neutral wines often used for vermouth. The base is infused with the herbs, roots and spices typical of the style, with wormwood providing the bittering note, and held pale rather than coloured, placing it among the lighter Blanco vermouths. The colour is pale gold. The nose carries citrus and white peach over white flowers and dried herbs, with a faint coastal salinity drawn from the grape. The palate is fresh and lightly sweet, the Albariño acidity keeping it lively while a gentle bitterness frames the finish. At 15 percent it is a true aperitif. Serve well chilled over ice with a twist of lemon or a green olive, on its own before a meal or with the seafood that suits its Galician roots.
