Description
Belsazar was created by Max Wagner and Sebastian Brack out of a shared love for the wines of Baden-Baden and the spirit of Berlin. The vermouth takes its base from regional Baden wine and fruit spirit produced by the Schladerer distillery in the Black Forest, with each expression carrying its own maceration of herbal extracts, flowers, spices and peels. The Dry style keeps sugar to a minimum and leans on the cool-climate acidity of the German wine base, so the botanical aromatics and the wormwood bitterness sit forward rather than being padded by sweetness. The colour is pale. The nose is complex and refined, with a vinous note reminiscent of aged sparkling wine, alongside summer fruit, chamomile and a yeasty character that gives way to the bitterness of Seville orange. The palate is dry and aromatic, carrying white peach, citrus peel and white flowers over a crisp, lightly bitter close. Serve well chilled in a wine glass or over ice as an aperitif, or use it in a dry martini.
