This West Indies Old Rum is a Barbados bottling from Velier, the Genoa house under Luca Gargano that became the most prestigious name in collectible rum. Drawn from West Indies Rum Distillery stock, it carries a 1986 vintage with 11 years of age, matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled unsweetened at 46%. Barbados rum typically lands balanced and rounded, with toffee, ripe banana, vanilla and soft baking spice, fruitier than Cuban and far less funky than Jamaican. Expect that classic, oak-carried Bajan character in a dry, naturally presented Velier selection from a respected vintage.
