Velier Versailles Demerara Rum Coffee Still 1991

Velier, led by Luca Gargano from Genoa, is the most prestigious name in collectible rum and especially revered for old Demerara. This Versailles was distilled in 1991, matured five years in ex-bourbon and bottled at 46%.

Versailles is normally the single wooden pot still, robust, bright and tannic with raw wood, liquorice, dark fruit and leather. At five years the wood influence is younger and fresher, leaving the bright, woody spirit more exposed. Molasses based and an early Velier Demerara, it is a collectible piece from the bottler that defined the category, showing the Versailles signature at a relatively youthful age.
