A tropically aged Clarendon Wedderburn at a blistering 69.1%, dry and woody with citrus, dried fruit, herbal mint and polish over peppery oak, an intense pour that demands time and water.
Description
Bottled by Velier and Scheer, this 11 Year Old Clarendon carries the MMW mark and the Wedderburn ester band, a fuller, fruity, funky recipe from a workhorse Jamaican supplier. This is the tropically aged half of the project, matured in Caribbean heat, which gives it deeper colour and more concentration than a continental cask of the same age.
This is Jamaican pot still at full intensity. Citrus, dried fruit and herbal mint sit against polish, esters and a peppery, woody backbone, finishing bitter, dry and leathery at a blistering 69.1%. Matured in Ex-Bourbon oak and bottled unsweetened at cask strength, it runs hot and needs real aeration, a splash of water and full attention to open. One for drinkers chasing tropical aged Clarendon power who appreciate a dry, woody, demanding pour.
