Velier Royal Navy Very Old Rum is a navy strength blend from rum's leading independent bottler, an old vatting of pot and column still rum from multiple origins bottled at a full 57.18%. Navy style is a blend category rather than a place, traditionally dark, rich and high proof, and Velier brings its transparent, naturally made, cask strength philosophy to the format.

The blend wears its parts clearly. There is the unmistakable Caroni signature of tar and rubber from the closed Trinidadian distillery, the dark heavy sweetness and molasses depth of Demerara from Guyana's heritage stills, and the bright tropical fruit and esters of Jamaica. On the palate it is woody, fruity, complex and intense, with tar lingering through a long spicy finish. At this strength it is powerful but surprisingly balanced, a serious, dirty navy blend that many enthusiasts treat as a reference point for the style.
