Overripe tropical fruit, nail polish and esters meet toasted oak and a dry, vanilla finish in this 12 Year Old Velier Long Pond Cambridge, a tropical aged, high-ester Jamaican pot still rum at a powerful 57%.
Description
This is a 2010 single vintage from Long Pond in Trelawny, bottled by Velier, drawn from the estate's Cambridge lineage and its STCE marque, a genuinely high-ester recipe. Long Pond is a historic Wedderburn style pot still house, absorbing old estates such as Cambridge during the mid-century consolidations, and is known for funky, fruit forward, sometimes polarising rum. As with all Velier, it is bottled with nothing added.
Aged twelve years in the Jamaican tropics, where heat concentrates the spirit, and bottled at a full 57% from ex-bourbon casks, it pushes hard yet stays controlled. Expect pineapple and overripe tropical fruit, nail polish and solvent esters over toasted oak, with a long, dry, vanilla tinged finish. This is a rum for experienced palates who love high-ester Jamaica, balancing wild funk against the polish of tropical ageing, formidable neat and capable of supercharging a Mai Tai.
