Velier Karukera Single Cask 2008

Velier is the most respected name in collectible rum, known for tropically aged, full proof, additive free single casks, and here it turns its eye to Karukera in Guadeloupe, the relaunched estate prized for its single cane bottlings. This is full strength agricole from fresh pressed sugarcane juice on a column still, a 2008 vintage matured eleven years.

More than a decade of Caribbean ageing has built structure while keeping the spirit clean. The nose is fresh and elegant, all sugarcane, vanilla and citrus with classic agricole lift, the palate adds sandalwood, nutmeg and baking spice over a soft oak sweetness, and the finish runs long with hay, grass and a gentle dry sweetness from the cask. Bottled at cask strength, it shows the polished, structured side of aged Guadeloupe agricole, powerful yet composed, exactly the kind of careful single cask the bottler is known for.
