A single cask Hampden from Velier’s Endemic Birds series, distilled 2011 under the LFCH marque and aged nine years in ex-bourbon oak, bottled tropically at a powerful cask strength 60.9% and undosed.
Description
Velier is the most prestigious name in collectible rum, bottling tropically aged, full-proof, additive-free single casks. This Black Billed Parrot release comes from Hampden under the LFCH marque, distilled in 2011 and aged nine years before bottling at 60.9% cask strength.
No individual notes accompany this bottling, but Hampden under a mid-to-high marque like LFCH delivers the estate's hallmark funk, ripe banana, pineapple and overripe mango against acetone, glue and solvent, over an oily, mouth-coating body. Full tropical ageing concentrates the spirit and deepens the oak. At cask strength and unsweetened it is intense and uncompromising, a collector-grade Hampden from a celebrated bottler, made for the audience that prizes high-ester pot still funk.
