A four year old Hampden DOK from Velier at 60 percent, the estate’s highest ester marque as an intense fruit and glue bomb of overripe tropical fruit and varnish with a very long, focused finish.
Description
Bottled by Velier, the most prestigious name in collectible rum, this Cristina de Middel release is a four year old Hampden distilled in 2021 from the DOK marque, the highest ester recipe the Trelawny estate makes and one that sits near Jamaica's legal ceiling. It is a pure pot still molasses rum bottled full proof in the house tradition.
Young and uncompromising at 60 percent, it is an intense fruit and glue bomb, overripe and rotten tropical fruit meeting varnish and ester in classic DOK fashion. The palate is fruity, overripe and gluey, with a warm, woody, very long and focused finish. The sugar content is not stated, though Velier's Hampdens are unsweetened by practice. This is the funk dialled all the way up, a divisive, powerful Jamaican strictly for drinkers who already chase the high ester end.
