A Velier Enmore at twenty years and 51.9%, concentrated and woody in the way only old Demerara manages, with anise, citrus and herbs over dried fruit, mango and polished oak on a long, spiced finish.
Description
Velier is the defining name in collectible Demerara, Luca Gargano's tropically aged, full-proof, additive-free single casks, and this 1988 Enmore is a classic of that catalogue. Enmore runs the last wooden Coffey still in the world, giving a lighter and more elegant profile than Port Mourant while keeping a distinct woody spine.
Matured in ex-bourbon and bottled at twenty years and 51.9%, it delivers the concentrated power Velier built its reputation on. The nose is woody with anise, citrus and herbs, the palate adds dried fruit, mango and a balanced core, and the finish runs long and woody with yellow fruit and spice. Burnt caramel, menthol and polished oak weave through, and the strength stays composed rather than hot. This is serious old-school Demerara for experienced palates, the kind of oak-spiced Enmore that rewards slow, attentive sipping.
