Velier Bielle Warren Khong 2007

Bielle is a Marie-Galante distillery known for its cane juice rum, and this ten year old from the 2007 harvest is a single cask bottled by Velier, the Genoese house regarded as the most prestigious name in collectible rum. Made from fresh pressed sugar cane juice and bottled at a natural 55%, it is a serious, contemplative agricole that rewards patience in the glass.

Distilled on a column and matured in ex bourbon wood, it carries real depth and structure. The nose runs grape, vanilla, wood and caramel, the palate turns spicy and peppery over caramel and wood, and the finish stays long and woody with oak and a base of sugar cane. A few minutes resting in the glass releases its full range of orchard fruit, citrus and cedar like oak, no water needed.
