Velier Bielle Single Cask 2007

Velier bottled this Bielle as a single cask, drawn from the Marie Galante distillery known for cane-variety experiments and high-proof blancs. The spirit is rhum agricole, distilled from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice rather than molasses, then matured ten years in ex-bourbon oak and released at cask strength. Velier remains the most closely watched name in collectible rum, and its agricole single casks are bottled full-proof and without added sugar.

The grassy cane core that defines agricole is still present, now wrapped in honey and soft caramel from the bourbon barrel. Aromatics run herbal and floral with clove and a green, minty lift, while the palate turns toward caramel and honeyed sweetness held in check by the dry spirit. The finish carries orchard fruit, baking spice and a light smoky edge. At 55% it has weight and grip, a tropical-island agricole that has gained richness without losing its fresh backbone.
