A softer, pot still Bielle from Velier in the Rhum Rhum Liberation style, fresh sugarcane juice at a reduced 45 percent, showing banana, dried apricot, vanilla, almond and gentle pepper over light oak.
Description
This Rhum Rhum Liberation is a collaboration bottled by Velier, the Genoa house regarded as the most prestigious name in collectible rum, drawing on Bielle's cane juice on Marie-Galante. Made from fresh-pressed sugarcane juice and distilled on a pot still, it is bottled unsweetened at a relaxed 45 percent.
The pot still and lower proof give a softer, fruit-led take on the Liberation profile: banana, dried apricot and vanilla on the nose, with almond and a vegetal, peppery edge across the palate. The finish runs woody with allspice, sugarcane and nutmeg. It needs a little air to show its best, and the reduced strength makes it an easy, fruity pour rather than a powerhouse. A gentle introduction to the Velier and Bielle Liberation lineage.
