Velier is the most prestigious name in collectible rum, and its Hearts Collection draws full-proof, additive-free single casks from the heart of the distillate, so this is a pot still expression rather than Appleton's usual smooth pot-and-column blend.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at cask strength, 63%, this is an intense, concentrated pour. Two decades of ageing build deep oak, orange peel, spice and dried fruit around the estate's tropical fruit, with the high proof keeping everything weighty and oily. Unsweetened and natural throughout.
