Description
This 17 Year Old single cask comes from Worthy Park, bottled by Valinch & Mallet in its Spirit of Art series and limited to 272 bottles. Worthy Park is the St. Catherine estate that distils 100% on its pot still and draws its esters from fermentation alone, giving a cleaner, moderate funk, here distilled from molasses in 2005 and matured in ex-bourbon at cask strength.
The nose is classic Jamaica, glue, banana, mango and papaya, while the palate turns more restrained and woody with orange, vanilla, oak and a smoky edge, and the finish brings banana, orange and spice with a touch of astringency. Unsweetened and bottled at 53.3%, this is a balanced, lightly funky Worthy Park that pairs an expressive nose with a calmer, oak-driven palate, a good neat pour for drinkers who want estate character with the funk concentrated up front.
