Valinch and Mallet bottled this single cask of Long Pond for The Spirit of Art series, a 15 Year Old VRW from 2005 at 56.8%. Long Pond is the historic Wedderburn house in Trelawny, and this expression shows its funky fruit at its most balanced and refined.
The VRW mark gives a fruity, funky character that 15 years in Ex-Bourbon oak has rounded nicely: ripe tropical fruit and esters up front, dark chocolate, espresso and roasted notes behind, with elegant oak spice carrying through a long finish. Bottled at cask strength without added sugar, it stays easy to sip despite the strength, rewarding a short rest in the glass to release its full aromatic range.
