Description
Valinch & Mallet selected this Foursquare single cask from the 2005 vintage for its Spirit of Art series, a Barbados rum from the Richard Seale distillery aged 16 years and bottled unsweetened at 56.7%. Foursquare blends double-retort pot and twin-column distillate traditionally, with no additives.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak, it leans dry and oak-forward, with wood spice, dark chocolate and nutty notes over caramel, coconut and pear, finished by a wisp of smoke. The classic Bajan wood sweetness and vanilla are there, the sixteen years showing in the breadth and mouthfeel, while the alcohol stays well integrated. This is a consistent, elegant profile rather than a flashy one, rewarding for its longevity and structure on the palate. A natural next step for drinkers who enjoy Foursquare and want it drier, woodier and a touch smokier at higher strength.
