Description
Valduero built its reputation on the high plateau of Ribera del Duero in Castilla y León, where the vineyards sit at altitude on limestone and clay soils. Albillo is the region's traditional white grape, and here it is treated for the long haul. The wide diurnal range between hot days and cold nights preserves acidity and slows ripening, giving fruit with enough structure to survive extended maturation. This Reserva spends 48 months in oak barrel followed by a further 48 months in bottle. Across that time slow oxygen exchange through the wood converts the wine towards acetaldehyde, adding nutty and dried fruit character, while the lengthy bottle age softens and integrates everything. The colour is deep gold. The nose is savoury and mature, with almond, dried apricot, beeswax and honey over a background of toasted oak. The palate is dry and textured, broad in the mouth but carried by firm acidity, closing long and nutty. Serve at 12 to 13 degrees in a full white glass.

Additional information
Pours well alongside roast chicken and slow cooked pork. The nutty oxidative character makes it a natural match for aged Manchego and other hard cheeses, and the firm acidity carries lighter white fish in a butter sauce.
