Valdespino Ron Viejo 1430 is a Cuban rum bottled by the Spanish house Valdespino, built on molasses spirit distilled on a column still and presented at 43%. It draws on Cuba's light ron ligero tradition, where the spirit is kept clean and the cask lends gentle colour and softness. The slightly higher proof gives a touch more presence than the island's softest bottlings. Expect a mellow profile of light vanilla, faint oak and dried fruit, in an easy Spanish-style register. This is an approachable, well-rounded Cuban ron, equally suited to sipping neat or anchoring a classic cocktail.
