A 9 Year Old El Dorado blend of Uitvlugt and Port Mourant married in the barrel, Port-finished at 51%, with sweet caramel, vanilla, herbs, coffee and spice in an easy yet characterful Demerara.
Description
This DDL release blends two of Guyana's heritage stills in one barrel: the cleaner, fruitier Uitvlugt Savalle column and the heavy Port Mourant double wooden pot. Bottled at 51% and nine years old, it offers more strength and still character than the standard El Dorado age statements while keeping the house's approachable, slightly sweet style.
Distilled from molasses across column and pot stills and finished in Port casks, it shows caramel, vanilla, herbs and wood on the nose, then wood, spice, caramel and a clear sweetness on the palate, finishing on wood, spice, caramel and chocolate. There is dosage here in keeping with the brand, so it drinks rounder than an independent bottling. The Port Mourant brings herb and spice, the Uitvlugt a lighter fruit, making this an easy-drinking but characterful middle ground between entry El Dorado and the rare casks.
