Description
Kill Devil is Hunter Laing's rum line of whisky house single casks, non chill filtered and natural. This 1998 comes from Uitvlugt, the closed coastal estate whose Savalle column rum is valued for clean, fruity refinement. It was matured 15 years in ex-bourbon and bottled unsweetened at 46%.
The Savalle is a French style metal multi column still, placing Uitvlugt among the lighter, more elegant Demerara profiles. Expect a fresh, fruity character with orchard and citrus fruit, light spice and clean wood rather than the oily heaviness of the heritage pot still marks. Molasses based and from an estate no longer producing, it captures the cleaner side of Guyanese rum at an approachable strength.
