A 11 Year Old El Dorado blend of Uitvlugt and Enmore stills, aged in ex-bourbon at 47.4%, soft and sweet with caramel, vanilla, honey, dried fruit and gentle spice, an approachable Demerara.
Description
This DDL release marries two of Guyana's heritage stills, the cleaner Uitvlugt Savalle column and the wooden Coffey Enmore, in one barrel. Bottled at 47.4% and eleven years old, it keeps the El Dorado house style: soft, rounded and on the sweeter side, an easy introduction to Guyanese rum.
Distilled from molasses across the column and wooden Coffey stills and matured in ex-bourbon, it shows vanilla, wood and caramel with a gluey ester edge on the nose, then wood, caramel, vanilla and clear sweetness on the palate, finishing on wood, caramel, barrel and vanilla. There is dosage here in keeping with the brand, so it drinks gentle and approachable rather than dry. Honey and dried fruit round it out, making this a smooth, very drinkable Demerara for newcomers who like soft, sweet profiles with a touch more strength than the entry bottlings.
