Uitvlugt El Dorado Special Cask Finish Madeira Sweet Casks 2006

This is a distillery release from the El Dorado side of Demerara Distillers, a single Special Cask Finish drawn from Uitvlugt, the refined Savalle column marque, and given a clear stamp of dry Madeira. At fifteen years and 57.3% it is unsweetened, a deliberate contrast to the rounded, dosed El Dorado age statements most drinkers know.

The Savalle still gives a lighter, cleaner base than the wooden pot stills, here built up by tropical ageing and the Madeira casks into something richer. Expect vanilla and caramel up front, then candied and dried fruits, old leather and roasted wood, closing on raisin, chocolate and burnt sugar. The strength carries real grip, so it rewards patience. Drinkers who lean toward drier Foursquare-style double casks, or who enjoy the standard El Dorado 15 and 21 but want more proof and a fortified-wine accent, will find their footing quickly here.
