Two Shores Las Cabras Premium Golden Rum (Amarone Cask Irish Whiskey Finish)

Two Shores Las Cabras Premium Golden Rum is a Panamanian rum from the Las Cabras distillery, given an unusual double finish in Amarone wine and Irish whiskey casks by an independent bottler. At four and a half years it is young, but the cask work and unsweetened presentation aim for character over age.

Distilled from molasses, it shows dried fruit, caramel and pecan on the nose, then leather, meringue and kiwi across the palate, finishing on passion fruit, espresso and a faintly alkaline note. The classic soft Spanish style core comes through, though the wine cask influence is more subtle than the label suggests. The absence of added sugar keeps it honest and lets the spirit and finishes show. An experimental, lightly tropical Panamanian that works neat for the curious and holds up well in a mixed drink.
