Description
An official Tullibardine single malt matured to 19 year old from 1992 and bottled at 46%. Built in 1949 in Blackford, on the edge of the Highlands, Tullibardine is a soft, honeyed Highland malt. Picard brought a range of wine cask finishes, named for the size of the cask: the 225 Sauternes, 228 Burgundy and 500 Sherry.
It was drawn off copper pot stills fed by the Danny Burn, for a soft, vanilla scented spirit. A wine cask finish layered fruit over the malt. Around the mid teens the malt gains a fuller honey and a riper fruit. Sherry wood suits the soft make, lending dried fruit and a nutty depth. Under French wine ownership the distillery has leaned into its cask finishes. The Murray and Custodian's Collections gather its older and rarer bottlings. Blackford's spring water has drawn brewers and distillers to the village for centuries.
Bottled at 46%, it is rounded. The wine cask lends red fruit, chocolate and a soft spice, and a gentle vanilla from the wood runs under apple, honey and a gentle spice. It is fruity and soft, the fruit and oak well matched. The finish runs gentle, fruity and mellow. This is a honeyed Highland single malt from Perthshire.
