Description
A Tullibardine single malt, chosen and bottled by The Vintage Malt Whisky Co Ltd matured to 8 year old from 2011, drawn from cask 9376 and bottled at 55.5%. The outturn was 246 bottles. Tullibardine was first built in 1949 beneath the Ochil Hills at Blackford, and it is known for its wine cask finishes. Water comes from the Ochil Hills springs, the same source as the Highland Spring bottled water.
Distilled on soft Highland spring water, building the gentle Tullibardine style. A wine cask finish shaped it, the fruit meeting the honeyed spirit. Still young, the malt is honeyed and fruity with a soft spice. Refill oak lets the honeyed Tullibardine character lead, vanilla over toffee. Blackford's spring water has drawn brewers and distillers to the village for centuries. Tullibardine was founded in 1949 by the architect William Delme-Evans, the first new distillery in post war Scotland.
At 55.5%, undiluted, it is deep and fruity. The Moscatel brings grape, honey and a floral lift, and a soft, fruity vanilla meet honeyed oak sweetness underneath. Beneath it run honey, toffee and a soft spice. It closes soft, honeyed and warm. This is a soft, honeyed Highland single malt.
