Description
Dràm Mòr bottled this Tullibardine single malt matured to 7 year old from 2015, drawn from cask 140 and bottled at 56%. The outturn was 267 bottles. Tullibardine, first built in 1949 in Perthshire, off the A9, is known for its wine cask finishes. It was founded by the distillery architect William Delme-Evans, the first new distillery in Scotland after the war.
The spirit was made in copper stills for a soft, fruity make, for a fruity, mellow make. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, lending honey and vanilla. At a youthful age the fruit is gentle and the malt soft. Years in oak round the spirit, the honey and soft fruit deepening with age. The malt also feeds the Highland Queen blend, another brand in the Picard stable. Part of the old estate was turned into a retail outlet during the lean years. The distillery sits just off the A9 near Gleneagles, one of Scotland's more accessible.
At a natural 56% it is full and honeyed. Vanilla and a light toffee from the barrel, with honey, vanilla and a soft toffee. The mouthfeel is soft, the fruit carried on a honeyed body. The finish is rounded, honeyed and gentle. This is a mellow, fruity Highland single malt.
