Tullibardine 5 Years Old 2015 Cask #105 (Silent Ambassador)

An independent Tullibardine, from the independent bottler Silent Ambassador matured to 5 year old from 2015, drawn from cask 105 and bottled at 52%. 270 bottles in all. Tullibardine was founded in 1949 at Blackford in Perthshire; it was the first distillery built in Scotland after the war. Delme-Evans went on to design the Jura and GlenAllachie distilleries.

It was worked through the distillery's pot stills, for the soft, honeyed Highland make Tullibardine is known for. A Sauternes or fortified cask gave a honeyed, fruity depth. Still young, the malt is honeyed and fruity with a soft spice. The honeyed spirit makes a fine base for a fortified or wine cask. The Murray and Custodian's Collections gather its older and rarer bottlings. Blackford's spring water has drawn brewers and distillers to the village for centuries.

At its natural 52% it is concentrated. The Port cask adds plum and red berry, and oats, honey and a touch of ginger sit alongside a quiet vanilla from the refill oak. It is gentle and honeyed, the soft spirit shining through. Vanilla and a soft ginger draw out the close. This is a wine finished Highland malt from Blackford.
