An independent Tullibardine, bottled by Hunter Laing matured to 28 year old from 1991, drawn from cask HL 16100 and bottled at 46.5%. Only 284 bottles were released. Tullibardine, founded in 1949 by William Delme-Evans at Blackford in Perthshire, is known for its wine cask finishes. Delme-Evans went on to design the Jura and GlenAllachie distilleries.

It was worked through the distillery's pot stills, for the soft, honeyed Highland make Tullibardine is known for. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, the wood adding a light honeyed sweetness. Beyond twenty years the malt grows deep and honeyed, dried fruit and oak spice over a soft toffee. The slow loss of the angel's share concentrates the honeyed, malty core over time. Delme-Evans, a noted gravity flow designer, also drew up the Jura and GlenAllachie distilleries. The malt also feeds the Highland Queen blend, another brand in the Picard stable. Part of the old estate was turned into a retail outlet during the lean years.

At 46.5% it is clean and honeyed. A malty, honeyed sweetness sit alongside a quiet vanilla from the refill oak. A baked apple and a gentle ginger lift it. A honeyed, lightly spiced finish lingers. This is Tullibardine, the lookout hill malt.
