Description
A Tullibardine single malt, from the independent bottler Jack Wiebers Whisky World, a 26 year old Highland malt from 1993, drawn from cask 941 and bottled at 49.9%. The outturn was 199 bottles. Opened in 1949 beneath the Ochil Hills at Blackford, Tullibardine is a soft, honeyed Highland malt. Water comes from the Ochil Hills springs, the same source as the Highland Spring bottled water.
Distilled on soft Highland spring water, building the gentle Tullibardine style. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, gentle American oak beneath the fruit. Long ageing brings a deeper dried fruit character and a soft oak spice. Wine cask finishing is central to the modern range, layering extra fruit. Picard is a Burgundy wine family, and their casks come from vineyards across France. The name comes from the Gaelic for lookout hill, after a hill once used to watch for strangers. It is one of few distilleries to distil, mature and bottle entirely on the one site.
At a hearty 49.9% it carries real weight. Oats, honey and a touch of ginger sit alongside honeyed oak sweetness underneath. It is gentle and honeyed, the soft spirit shining through. It finishes soft, honeyed and clean. This is a wine finished Highland malt from Blackford.
