Description
This official Tullibardine single malt, a 13 year old release from 2008 and bottled at 56.1%. A release of 21690 bottles. Tullibardine, founded in 1949 by William Delme-Evans at Blackford in Perthshire, is known for its wine cask finishes. Delme-Evans went on to design the Jura and GlenAllachie distilleries.
It was worked through the distillery's pot stills, for the soft, honeyed Highland make Tullibardine is known for. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, lending honey and vanilla. Past a decade the malt deepens into honey, toffee and a soft orchard fruit. The honeyed spirit makes a fine base for a fortified or wine cask. The Murray and Custodian's Collections gather its older and rarer bottlings. Blackford's spring water has drawn brewers and distillers to the village for centuries. Tullibardine was founded in 1949 by the architect William Delme-Evans, the first new distillery in post war Scotland.
At a hearty 56.1% it carries real weight. Vanilla, toffee and orchard fruit meet a quiet vanilla from the refill oak. Soft orchard fruit and vanilla sit behind the sweetness. A honeyed, lightly spiced finish lingers. This is the soft Highland malt of Blackford.
