Description
An independent Tullibardine, released by Lady of the Glen, a 14 year old Highland malt from 2006, drawn from cask 618 and bottled at 57.3%. The outturn was 175 bottles. Built in 1949 in Blackford, on the edge of the Highlands, Tullibardine is a soft, honeyed Highland malt. Delme-Evans went on to design the Jura and GlenAllachie distilleries.
It was drawn off copper pot stills fed by the Danny Burn, for a soft, vanilla scented spirit. Ex-Sherry wood added a dried fruit richness to the soft make. By this age the soft spirit rounds into honeyed fruit and a gentle oak. A patient maturation suits the soft, honeyed Tullibardine character. The name comes from the Gaelic for lookout hill, after a hill once used to watch for strangers. It is one of few distilleries to distil, mature and bottle entirely on the one site.
At cask strength 57.3% it is full bodied. The Oloroso gives dried fruit and a toasted nuttiness, and a gentle vanilla from the wood runs under apple, honey and a gentle spice. It is fruity and soft, the fruit and oak well matched. The finish runs gentle, fruity and mellow. This is a honeyed Highland single malt from Perthshire.
