Description
An independent Tullibardine, from the independent bottler Douglas Laing, a 12 year old Highland malt from 2010, drawn from cask DL 15867 and bottled at 48.4%. Just 350 bottles were filled. Built in 1949 at Blackford in Perthshire, Tullibardine is a soft, honeyed Highland malt. Delme-Evans went on to design the Jura and GlenAllachie distilleries.
It was worked through the distillery's pot stills, for the soft, honeyed Highland make Tullibardine is known for. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, soft oak that lets the honeyed fruit lead. Still young, the malt is honeyed and fruity with a soft spice. Long, gentle ageing turns the fresh fruit towards honey and a soft spice. The name comes from the Gaelic for lookout hill, after a hill once used to watch for strangers. It is one of few distilleries to distil, mature and bottle entirely on the one site. Delme-Evans, a noted gravity flow designer, also drew up the Jura and GlenAllachie distilleries.
At a natural 48.4% it is full and honeyed. Oats, honey and a touch of ginger sit alongside a quiet vanilla from the refill oak. It is gentle and honeyed, the soft spirit shining through. It finishes soft, honeyed and clean. This is a wine finished Highland malt from Blackford.
