Description
An independent Tullibardine, picked by The Whisky Chamber matured to 10 year old from 2006, drawn from cask 383 and bottled at 57%. A release of 313 bottles. Tullibardine was established in 1949 in Blackford, on the edge of the Highlands, and it distils, matures and bottles on one site. Delme-Evans went on to design the Jura and GlenAllachie distilleries.
It was drawn off copper pot stills fed by the Danny Burn, for a soft, vanilla scented spirit. A finish in wine wood, the Picard signature, added fruit to the malt. At a youthful age the fruit is gentle and the malt soft. Under French wine ownership the distillery has leaned into cask finishes. The Murray and Custodian's Collections gather its older and rarer bottlings. Blackford's spring water has drawn brewers and distillers to the village for centuries. Tullibardine was founded in 1949 by the architect William Delme-Evans, the first new distillery in post war Scotland.
At a full 57% it is bold yet honeyed. The Rum cask brings brown sugar and a tropical lift, and a gentle vanilla from the wood, with honey, vanilla and a soft toffee. The mouthfeel is soft, the fruit carried on a honeyed body. A long, honeyed finish carries a fruity lift. This is a mellow, fruity Highland single malt.
