Tuets Panxu is a juicy, unoaked red from the Domingo family’s organic farm in Alt Camp, Catalonia, made from Ull de Llebre, the local name for Tempranillo. Stainless-steel ageing keeps it fresh and fruit-forward, with bright red berry and cherry.
Description
Panxu is made by Albert Domingo at Celler Tuets, the Domingo family farm in Alt Camp, Catalonia, from Ull de Llebre, the Catalan name for Tempranillo. Farming is organic and the wine is made with a natural, low-intervention approach. The wine ages for eight months in stainless steel rather than oak, which preserves the bright primary fruit and keeps the texture fresh and unmarked by barrel character. At twelve per cent alcohol it is a light, easy red built for early drinking. Stainless steel also holds the wine in a reductive, oxygen-free environment, protecting freshness and the lift of the fruit. The colour is bright cherry red. The nose is fruit-forward, with red berries, cherry and a little plum over a light floral and earthy note. The palate is light bodied and juicy, with fresh acidity, soft tannins and a clean red-fruit finish. Serve lightly cool at 14 to 15 degrees. It is a flexible table red for casual meals, suiting lighter meats, charcuterie, tomato-based dishes and vegetable plates.
