A 9 year old single cask Trois Rivieres from the 2004 vintage at 43%, ex-bourbon aged to balanced toasted wood, citrus and nuts, with lemon, orange peel and a roasted, gently spiced finish.
Description
Trois Rivieres Single Cask 2004 is an aged agricole from Trois Rivieres, a long established Martinique estate now distilled at the La Mauny site, working within the island's rum AOC. Distilled from fresh cane juice on a column still, this single cask spent nine years in ex-bourbon wood before bottling at an easy 43%.
The style trades brute force for balance. Toasted wood, sugarcane, citrus and dried fruit lead the nose, the palate brings lemon, orange peel and a caramelised edge, and the finish runs woody and roasted with nuts, a touch of chocolate and gentle spice. Tropical ageing has rounded the cane core without smothering it, leaving an elegant, easy drinking profile. A composed, single cask agricole for drinkers who value poise and toasted oak over intensity, fine neat or with a splash of water.
