A cask-strength single-cask Trois Rivieres from Martinique, an 11 year old 2001 agricole from fresh cane juice and ex-bourbon oak, fruity, floral and earthy with a vegetal, barrel-edged finish, dry and full at 49.3%.
Description
Trois Rivieres traces its estate to 1660 and has made rum for well over a century, now distilled at the La Mauny site in southern Martinique. This single cask is a 2001 vintage with 11 years of tropical ageing, distilled from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice on a column still in the island's AOC tradition and bottled unsweetened at cask strength.
Eleven years at origin draw the grassy cane core into a fruity, floral and earthy profile with roasted notes, closing on a vegetal, barrel-touched finish that keeps the agricole character intact. Bottled at a full 49.3% as a single cask with nothing added, it shows the dry, structured side of aged Martinique rum, where proof and oak frame the cane rather than sweetness softening it. A characterful, undiluted vieux for drinkers who want their agricole aged but still recognisably grassy and dry.
