Trois Rivières Rhum Cuvée de l‘Océan

Cuvee de l'Ocean is a white agricole from Trois Rivières on Martinique, made under the island's AOC from fresh pressed sugar cane juice rather than molasses, with no added sugar permitted. Its hook is the cane itself, grown near the sea, which gives the spirit a pronounced saline, ocean influenced character.

This is the fresh, snappy heart of agricole. The nose is vegetal and grassy with citrus and a clear iodine note, the palate carries fresh cane, grass and a distinct saltiness, and the finish is dry, briny and lightly peppery. At 42% it is bright and approachable rather than high in proof, an easy way to explore saline, terroir driven cane juice rum. It is a natural in cocktails, making a vivid Daiquiri and a fresh Ti Punch, and pairs beautifully with seafood, where that maritime salinity comes into its own. Honest, dry and full of snap.
