A fruit and spice driven Martinique AOC agricole from Trois Rivieres, distilled from fresh cane juice with well integrated wood, gently sweet edged with cocoa, sugarcane and pepper, dry and elegant at an approachable 42%.
Description
Trois Rivieres traces its estate back to 1660 and has made rum for well over a century, now distilled at the La Mauny site in Martinique. This Bois d'Inde takes its name from one of the rivers that cross the plantation, a Martinique agricole made from fresh pressed sugar cane juice under the AOC and bottled unsweetened at a gentle 42%.
Despite the modest strength it offers more than its proof suggests, with cocoa and spice on the nose, sugarcane and a soft natural sweetness on the palate, and well integrated oak that never turns aggressive. The finish runs peppery and dry with a flicker of dark chocolate, keeping the elegant, terroir led character the house is known for. It is the kind of agricole that delivers fruit, spice and balance without demanding any tolerance for cask strength, a refined and easy sipper that drinkers can enjoy with or without close attention.
