A light white blend from the Trois Freres distillery in the Seychelles, made on pot and column stills at 38%, soft and rather neutral with grassy cane, citrus, vanilla and a touch of coconut, built for easy mixing.
Description
Takamaka White Rum comes from the Trois Freres distillery on Mahe in the Seychelles, where the spirit is distilled on a combination of pot and column stills from molasses. Bottled at a gentle 38% with no age statement, it is a soft, light white made for long drinks rather than contemplation.
The nose is vegetal and floral with sugarcane and a little vanilla, while the palate brings grass, citrus and cane over a smooth, fairly neutral body, finishing oily with peach and a light spice. Drinkers describe it as mild and clean, with a mellow coconut and citrus sweetness that makes it pleasant but unassuming. It fills a similar role to a very soft mixing white, with a touch more herbal cane character than the most neutral options. Best poured into a simple highball or a rum and cola, it is an easy island workhorse rather than a sipping white.
