A Seychelles rum from Takamaka, distilled on pot and column stills from molasses and cane juice and aged in ex-bourbon oak, fresh and spiced with oak, cinnamon, coconut and dried fruit over a grassy, peppery finish at 45.1%.
Description
Takamaka PTI Lakaz is a small-batch release from Trois Frères on the Seychelles, an Indian Ocean distillery working from both molasses and fresh sugar cane juice across pot and column stills. This third batch is aged around five and a half years in ex-bourbon oak and bottled unsweetened at a characterful 45.1%, sitting a notch above the brand's softer everyday range.
The dual base shows in a rum that balances oak-driven depth with a fresher, cane-led lift. The nose offers oak, cinnamon, coconut and dried fruit, while the palate brings young wood, dried fruit, a creamy texture and warm spice. The finish turns grassy and peppery with a touch of nutmeg, that green note hinting at the cane juice in the blend. It is an honest, dry island rum with more structure than its gentle strength suggests, a good window into the Seychelles style for drinkers exploring Indian Ocean cane spirit beyond the usual names.
