Trois Frères Distillery Takamaka Pineapple Rum

Trois Freres Distillery makes this Takamaka Pineapple Rum in the Seychelles, a flavoured rum bottled at a low 25%. It is honestly a sweet pineapple liqueur rather than a sipping rum, and is best judged within that category, where its easy fruit and low strength are the whole appeal.

The pineapple leads throughout, bright and sweet on the nose with citrus and tropical fruit, the palate mild and sugary, the finish light and fruity. At 25% it is gentle and undemanding, and drinkers rate its value and easy drinkability highly. The distillery's serious work is its pot still cane juice rum, but this sits at the fun, affordable end, made to lengthen a tropical cocktail or pour over ice rather than to be studied neat.
