Description
Tres Hombres ages and ships its rum by sailing cargo ship, and this edition draws on the Poisson distillery on Marie Galante, the house behind Pere Labat. Made from fresh pressed sugar cane juice on a creole column and matured close to five years in ex bourbon, it is bottled unsweetened at an easy 46% with a sea finish that adds to its rustic charm.
The profile is youthfully vegetal and clearly cane driven. The nose is floral and green with hay and honey, the palate brings sugar cane, gentle wood, florals and light fruit, and the finish stays grassy with hay, grape and allspice. It reads naturally sweet toned without being sweetened, smooth and mild for its strength. A fun, rustic island agricole with a clairin like vegetal streak, well suited to drinkers who enjoy young cane juice rum with a story behind it.
