Description
Trénel Mâcon-Villages is a single-variety Chardonnay from the AOC Mâcon-Villages in southern Burgundy. The fruit comes from south and south-east facing plots at Charnay-lès-Mâcon and Viré, on a mix of soils led by clay and limestone rock, a balance that gives the wine both ripeness and freshness. The vines are between 25 and 50 years old. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel and cement tanks at controlled temperature, which keeps the fruit clean and precise without any oak character. The wine is then aged on its fine lees, where slow autolysis lends body and a subtle savoury note and smooths the texture, so the wine gains weight while staying fresh. The colour is pale gold with green highlights. The nose shows fresh flowers and citrus. The palate is smooth and rounded, medium bodied, with orchard fruit and a bright, mineral finish. Serve chilled at 9 to 11 degrees.
