A storied 1990 Hampden from the C<>H vintage, 30 years old at cask strength, balancing grilled pineapple and overripe fruit with creamy texture and polished oak, unsweetened and built for slow sipping.
Description
The Rum Cask bottled this single cask of Hampden CH from 1990, one of the distillery's most sought after vintages. At 30 years old and 55.6% it is a continental aged Hampden of real maturity, the kind of bottling that gets passed around among long time Jamaica drinkers.
It is pure pot still rum from molasses, the product of Hampden's long wild fermentation and double retort distillation, matured in Ex-Bourbon oak. Three decades have rounded the high esters into something creamy and balanced: grilled pineapple and overripe tropical fruit up front, woody spice and polished oak behind, and alcohol so well integrated it barely reads at strength. With no added sugar and a tiny outturn, it is a reference continental aged Hampden for focused, unhurried sipping.
