Description
Travellers Rumclub Private Selection Ed. 38 Rum 2006 is a single cask Belize rum distilled at the Travellers distillery and bottled by Spirit of Rum for the Rumclub Private Selection series. At seventeen years and 62.9 percent it is one of the older Belize bottlings around, an unsweetened, full proof single cask for drinkers who want power with age. The 2006 vintage gives it real maturity behind its strength.
Matured in ex bourbon wood, it leans into the chocolate forward profile Belize is known for, with coconut, milk chocolate, caramel and toasted oak running through to a dry, slightly bitter finish. The cask strength brings intensity, yet the alcohol is so well integrated that attention stays on the flavour rather than the heat. Sweet orange threads through the dark cocoa notes to keep it from feeling austere. It rewards slow, neat sipping or a small splash of water, a coherent and characterful pour for those who enjoy dry, roasted, cask strength rum.
