Warm cardamom, nutmeg and cinnamon wrap around juniper and bright citrus zest in a gin that traces an old spice route. Named for a 17th-century Danish trading colony in India and made to an old Danish recipe, it bridges West and East. Spicy, faintly sweet and full of trade-wind warmth.

Description
Tranquebar Colonial Gin takes its name from the former Danish colony on India's southern coast, a hub of the 17th-century spice trade. Distilled in the Netherlands to an old Danish recipe, it sets out to recreate that meeting of Western and Eastern flavours. Alongside juniper and citrus sit a cargo of exotic spice, cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon and coriander among them, giving the gin a warm, aromatic depth that recalls the holds of an old trading ship.
The nose offers juniper, fresh citrus zest and that lift of cardamom, nutmeg and cinnamon. The palate is full-bodied and harmonious, fresh juniper spice meeting warm baking notes, a fine citrus sweetness and a gentle peppery edge, the finish long, spicy and softly warm. Build it into a gin and tonic with an Indian tonic, a twist of orange and a bruised cardamom pod.
